UNC Greensboro Computer Science department student Titi Adeniyi has been awarded both the Defense Research Experience and Mentored Career Exploration (DREaM) Scholarship through the Institute for the Convergence of Optimized Methods for Military Advances and National Defense (iCOMMAND) and the Undergraduate Research and Creativity Award (URCA) through URSCO.
The DREaM Scholars Program provides STEM students with hands-on defense research experience, mentorship from Department of Defense scientists, and professional development opportunities. Scholars also receive a stipend and support in applying for the prestigious SMART Scholarship.
In addition, Titi received a $5,500 URCA award to support the project “Eligibility-Aware Generative Retrieval for Patient-Trial Matching,” under the direction of Dr. Yingcheng Sun. The project focuses on advancing AI methods for improving patient-to-clinical-trial matching.
