Dr. Yingcheng Sun and his two undergraduate students, Gloria Sukidi and Titilope “Titi” Adeniyi, appeared on Research T at the G, a radio show on WUAG 103.1 FM, on August 18, 2026. The program was hosted by Kelly Joyce, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

During the show, Sun introduced two healthcare-focused research projects. The first explores information retrieval for long and complex medical queries, including methods for matching patients with relevant clinical trials. Adeniyi contributes to this project by developing more effective approaches to clinical information retrieval and patient–trial matching. The second project investigates multimodal large language models that combine text, medical images, physiological signals, and interactive input. Sukidi is helping develop a 3D human-body environment using Unreal Engine. The system allows users to identify the location of an injury or symptom and connects that information with medically specialized AI models.

The conversation also highlighted the value of undergraduate research at UNCG. Sukidi reflected on her experience as a McNair Scholar, saying, “The McNair program helped me realize I could see myself as a researcher and gave me the confidence to pursue questions I care about.” Adeniyi added that working with Sun’s research group strengthened her skills and mindset, noting, “Working in Dr. Sun’s lab taught me that reading papers is a skill you build over time, and that struggling with problems and even failing is part of the learning process.” Their appearance showcased the department’s growing research in healthcare AI and its commitment to meaningful student mentorship.

What is Research T at the G: Arts and Sciences and Every Thing In Between? The College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s Office launched the radio show dedicated to showcasing faculty research. Each show will focus on one faculty’s research or creative work. The show continues to air on UNCG’s student-run campus radio station, WUAG 103.1 FM, on Tuesdays, 11 AM – 12 PM. Stay tuned!
