The UNC Greensboro Department of Computer Science participated in the inaugural College of Arts & Sciences Week, held September 14–18, 2026. Organized around the theme “Discover. Inspire. Create. Lead.”, the week brought together departments and programs from across the College to share research, creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.
Computer Science joined the celebration from the start at the opening G.O.A.T. Parade on Monday, September 14. Members of the department community carried a colorful Computer Science banner along College Avenue and helped kick off the week alongside colleagues from across the College—and several memorable four-legged guests.
On Wednesday, September 16, the department welcomed visitors to Petty Building Room 212 for two interactive events: “Meet Our Little Robot” and “From Code to Intelligence: AI & Computing Research Showcase.” Both events were held from 10 a.m. to noon. The official program featured an interactive large language model-based healthcare application and a hands-on robot technology demonstration.
Across the room, the robotics demonstration gave attendees an up-close look at several robotic platforms, including small wheeled robots and a quadruped robot. Visitors saw how programming, sensing, movement, and hardware come together in working systems. The informal, open-house format encouraged attendees to ask questions, speak with presenters, and move freely between the AI and robotics demonstrations.
During the AI showcase, visitors explored a healthcare-focused research prototype that brought together an interactive 3D interface, multimodal information, and large language model technology. Presenters discussed how computer scientists can design systems that make complex information easier to explore while keeping human needs at the center of the interaction.
The department’s participation in CAS Week reflected the breadth of computer science at UNCG—from artificial intelligence and healthcare computing to robotics, software development, and experiential learning. It also created an opportunity to connect with colleagues and visitors from across campus and the wider community. We were proud to help celebrate the curiosity, collaboration, and innovation that define Arts & Sciences at UNCG.
