The Girls Who Code student organization at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) has been recognized with the prestigious 2026 Spartans of Excellence Award: Spartan Experience Certification for Student Organizations, highlighting its outstanding contributions to student engagement, leadership, and community impact.
Under the leadership of president Gloria Sukidi, the organization has demonstrated a strong commitment to empowering students—especially young women—to explore computer science and develop technical and leadership skills. Through workshops, coding sessions, and outreach activities, the group has created an inclusive environment that encourages participation and growth in technology fields.
The organization is advised by Dr. Qianqian Tong, whose mentorship has supported the group’s mission of fostering innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence. Under her guidance, Girls Who Code has expanded its programming and strengthened its impact both on campus and in the broader community.
