Prof. Deng and co-authors win “Test of Time” award from ACM SIGSAC

A paper authored by Wenliang Du, Yunghsiang S. Han, Jing Deng, and Pramod K. Varshney has won the “Test of Time Award” from the ACM Special Interest Group on Security, Audit, and Control (SIGSAC). This award is given at the ACM Communication and Computer Security (CCS) conference, one of the top conferences in computer security, to recognize papers that appeard 10 years earlier and have made a significant impact on the field in the decade after publication. In their paper, “A Pairwise Key Pre-distribution Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks,” Du, Han, Deng, and Varshney devise and analyze a technique for distributing secret keys in the heavily resource-constrained setting of sensor networks, proving that their scheme is both efficient and resilient. In the ten years since the paper was published in 2003, the conference paper and corresponding journal paper have received over 1,700 citations by other researchers. The Department of Computer Science congratulates Prof. Deng on this groundbreaking and influential work.
