Kim Receives Funding from Cone Health for Deep Learning-based Early Tumor Diagnosis Project

Professor Kim receives an interdisciplinary research project funding from Cone Health entitled “AI-assisted Early Outcome Prediction for Brain Tumors Treated with Stereotactic Radiosurgery.”

This project’s main goal is to design and build a deep learning-based diagnostic regression model that predicts brain tumor progression and outcome at an earlier time for individual patients. The model will learn the relationship between the intrinsic data representations of longitudinal multimodal MR imaging data and their respective diagnostic information, including outcome, progression, radionecrosis, and treatment-related factors, as the target values by the optimization process to maximize the prediction accuracy. The project deliverable will be a computer-assisted diagnosis (CAD) software tool to be used in clinical practice. One UNCG Computer Science graduate student will directly work with Professor Kim on this project.

Congratulations!
